Leah's birthday party

It is our family's tradition to have a birthday party for every child when they turn 5 and 10.  So this year, it was Leah's turn to have her 5th birthday party.  She wanted a Cinderella cake.  This was a bit of a challenge but I enjoy making their cakes.  The top split a little when I tried to stick Barbie into it and it was a little weird plastic wrapping and frosting a Barbie but it came out pretty good.  She had lots of wonderful families come celebrate with us.

We made a homemade pinata that everyone whacked first and the second was a pull string pinata but we let everyone who hadn't had a turn on the first one have a chance to whack it too, then they pulled the strings and it came open.

Valentines Day

Normally in our house, Valentines Day is just another day.  I haven't gotten flowers since we started dating.  Long ago, I requested a hand written note on any kind of paper or card because I enjoy those and will take any excuse to get one out of my husband.  This year, Heath had happened to have to work the Saturday before and he was off on Valentines, which was a Thursday.  He made dinner - beercan chicken, rice, corn muffins (from scratch - wow), and green beans and when I got home from taking Kate to ballet, everything was set up with a separate table in the "dining room" for just Heath, the baby, and I.  Brianna was playing waitress and took everyone's orders and served us.  She did a great job!  The kids ate nicely and Heath and I were actually able to have a conversation and pretend to be on a date.  It was just as nice as going out without all the trouble!  Sometimes, my sweet husband surprises me.

I finally decided to start a new blog.  I will still keep family pictures and stuff on here but I am working on a blog where I can put more home school and natural living stuff.  I have added a few things.  I probably won't have time to make it a great blog or anything close to what I want but I am attempting an outlet for my crafty/religious/homeschool side.  Then all my relatives who just want to see kid pics. can still see the occasional picture on this blog and anyone who is interested in our Catholic homeschooling/ natural lifestyle side can check out my other blog  There is a link on the side of this blog.

Luke - 6 months

Luke is about 6 1/2 months now.  He started crawling just before he turned 6 months and just after he started pulling up to stand on anything he can get his hands on.  He is getting into everything now.  He has 2 new teeth.  The first one came in when he was about 5 1/2 months.  He also got a haircut last week because his bangs were getting in his eyelashes which he didn't seem to like.
